Episode 204 – Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Games Engines

Running, Driving, Sailing…Just Finish the Race!

T.R. and Jeff burn rubber and set the sails to discuss the various ways racing has become a part of gaming culture. And how has racing impacted us as a culture, influencing the pace at which we live.

P.S. Stick around for the end.

Episode 189 – Fear and Loving

Fear is a Four-Letter Word

Daniel and T.R. lean into the season of dread as Halloween approaches. How does fear influencing our games? What are the differences between fear and horror? Is there a point where we face our fears and the anxieties that threaten to overwhelm us?

Episode 178 – Remember Thou Art Mortal

It’s easy to get caught up in doing good and putting out all your efforts towards acts of ministry – but every once in a while it’s important to remember that you aren’t a machine. That sometimes you just need to step away and do something not tied to ministry, not tied to a goal, or not even tied to much of anything other than the sheer joys of playing.

In this episode we talk about Daniel’s ‘Boy Scouts RPG’ multi-game session coming up, as well as Rising Sun, Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn, and Alien Artifacts.

At one point in the episode, I mention listening to the Failed Missionary podcast. If you are interested in what’s going on over there, you can find them here.

Episode 162 – Chasing the Cardboard Dragon

A conversation about what I should obtain for my next game purchase lead us to a discussion about the constant chase for getting all the newest and shiniest games on the market. How do we prioritize when to buy games, and what games do we buy? While the new games coming out are filled with great things, how many games sit idle on our shelves? How do we evaluate why our games are important to us and whether or not we actually need to get the game we want so badly now?

And maybe a brief moment about how Jerry Hawthorne and Plaid Hat Games made me cry.

Episode 160 – The Intern & the Mechanical Gospel

Many of our usual hosts are off dealing with other things at the moment, so I asked our new intern Jonathan Campoverde to come on the podcast to tell our wonderful listeners a little bit about himself.

In this episode, we talk about some of the announcements blowing open the doors of Gen Con (Restoration Games announcing Fireball Island, Plaid Hat announcing Stuffed fables, and – of course – FFG’s announcement of Star Wars: Legion), talk about our wonderful intern and what he hopes to see in this next year with us, and discuss the church’s perception of what constitutes ministry and the way we go about sharing the Gospel.

He’s gonna fit in just fine.
