Episode 194 – Cons Baby!

Merry Conventioning!

They say it’s madness to post a podcast on Christmas Eve – but it’s madder still to try and do it on New Year’s Eve. So, all you wonderful listeners out there get a gift from InnRoads Ministries in your podcatcher of choice in the form of Mike and Daniel discussing our two major trips of the year (Gary Con and PAX Unplugged), talk about our ministry goals and philosophy going into 2019, and even drop some exciting insider info for things to look forward to in the next few months.

Episode 178 – Remember Thou Art Mortal

It’s easy to get caught up in doing good and putting out all your efforts towards acts of ministry – but every once in a while it’s important to remember that you aren’t a machine. That sometimes you just need to step away and do something not tied to ministry, not tied to a goal, or not even tied to much of anything other than the sheer joys of playing.

In this episode we talk about Daniel’s ‘Boy Scouts RPG’ multi-game session coming up, as well as Rising Sun, Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn, and Alien Artifacts.

At one point in the episode, I mention listening to the Failed Missionary podcast. If you are interested in what’s going on over there, you can find them here.

Episode 155 – Tired of Explaining Ourselves

Coming off of not one, but two major events – GameChurch’s Academy East conference and the third annual Tavern Con – Daniel and I sit down to talk about some things. Daniel talks about playing Carrotia with his kids, and seeing them plan out deeper strategies in a simple game.I talk about playing Scythe, and how it has now officially claimed my #1 spot in the collection – as well as talking about what happened at the events and how I even took a shot at painting miniatures.

But all of this work is tiring – especially in a ministry where so much of what we have to do is dedicated to explaining to people that this is ministry and not just a social club for Christian gamers. When you have to throw yourself into relationships constantly wondering if you’re doing any good at all. It is always encouraging to be with those who know exactly what that feels like.

Episode 129 – Tonal Shift

This episode starts off with us having a lot of fun. There’s a Tavern Con 2016 report, we talk about playing One Night Ultimate Werewolf with kids, Arctic Scavengers, and shenanigans in the Tavern. Oh, and we also talk about this video…

…Then the tone dropped.

Guys we talk about the tragedy that happened recently. There have been some folks using tags and search terms about that tragedy in an attempt to just up their click count. I have no desire to do that – so you can just listen to the episode, hear what we have to say, and join us in mourning with those who mourn and doing what we can to impact those around us with the powerful love of God.
